Kuala Lumpur, 6th, Dec (Reuters) - Malaysian government is preparing to take Australian miner Lynas to court if Lynas is confident of filing a lawsuit against his Pahang rare earth smelting business.

Yeo Bee Yin, minister of energy, green technology, science, climate change and the environment, said the government's position was clear: Lynas must keep its promise to remove 450,000 tons of radioactive waste accumulated over the past six years. She added that the Malaysian government had not set new conditions for Lynas's existing license and stressed that removing waste from Malaysia was one of the prerequisites for the company to renew its operations in Malaysia. Malaysian law allows a temporary storage of 20 metric tons waste or 180 days. Lynas applied for an exemption that accumulated hundreds of thousands of waste over a period of 6 years. Therefore, I think that Lynas as a listed company should keep its promise. She said that it is a risk for all Malaysians to keep the garbage here.
